MacOS 13.4 Ventura - External Monitor no longer detected. Worked until the update to 13.4

Congratulations, Apple, MacOS 13.4 has completely eliminated my ability to use an external display. Up until the 13.4 update, I was using an external display to extend my video across the MacBook display and the external display. No longer since 13.4.

I have now tried three different USB Type-C docking stations that I know have worked in the past, and none of them will connect to my external monitor. What is going on?

I actually wound up resolving this by unplugging the monitor for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. It seems like the update process put the monitor into some state that it couldn't recover from - a state that simply turning the monitor off and on again with the power button doesn't help with (the power button apparently doesn't fully reset the monitor).

The monitor resumed working as normal after being unplugged for awhile. I vaguely recall having to do something similar after a previous macOS update, so maybe this issue isn't specific to Ventura.

I first had an M1 Macbook Pro which worked fine connecting to, two, 49 inch Samsung Monitors. I decided to upgrade to the M2 Macbook Pro Max. It worked find for about 1.5 days, until I got the notice to upgrade to 13.5. As soon as I did, all stopped working. The only time they worked was when I would unplug and plug-in around 20 or so times. Then, I would unplug and plug into the other ports, naively, hoping they would now work. They didn't. I was on the phone with Mac support for that instance, around 4 hours. They ended up telling me to take the machine to the Apple Store. I did just that and the team at this store, as my machine was only a few days old, provided me with a new machine. Soooooo....I took the machine home and set it up. Then.....about 8 hours later, it prompted me to update the machine again. I had not yet put together the issues and the fact it was the update that was bricking my machine from connecting external monitors. Soooo...again, on a call with Apple the next morning. I was then told it was not their issue and for me to call Samsung as it HAD to be Samsung and not their glorious machine or software. Sooooo....I was tired of the games. I took the machine back and then ordered a decked out Lenovo Legion, with an NVIDIA 4080 and 32GB of ram. It should be here in a few weeks. I failed to mentioned that I tried all of my other machines and the ports worked fine. I even tried an iPad Pro, and it worked fine. I will be taking a nice little break from the Apple ecosystem. If all goes well with my Windows machine, I will see if I ever come back.

It didn't happen to my iMac (Intel) until I upgraded to Ventura 13.6, but that did it - killed my conection to my external monitor.

Samsung monitor, directly connected Thunderbolt (USB-C) in Mac to HDMI input in monitor.

No signal, no recognition of the display in the iMac no matter what I do.

Tried all 7 pages of fixes -- ALL of them.

The one about changing the plist file didn't go because terminal told me no such file exists.

For Mac users, this seems like a pretty serious problem to have created and to allow to persist through several upgrades of the OS. Most serious Mac users employ external displays to get the best use in venues for which Mac is the better choice (i.e. Final Cut Pro, ProTools, etc.).

I also used 3 different docking stations on my Macbook Pro (2017), Ventura 13.6. One of my docking stations has an extra power supply, the others not. Before it worked normally, but right now it looks like there is an issue with finding the right resolution? The screen and docking stations are working on my Windows laptop normally. I have recorded a video to show you guys what I see when connecting the screen with my macbook. Tried already several solutions on the internet... Please help :)

Hello everyone, my 27" 5K iMac is upgraded to Ventura 13.6.7 without me knowing the **** it will give me. I bought a beautiful 27" Thunderbolt 2 display on yard sale, and spent $50 for the adoptor cable, i can even get to settings and when i click on Display it gives error code 15. I also noticed that my entire 2x 1TB hard drives, desktop, docs all disappeared and moved to iCloud.

my question is this, how can safely downgrade, get my 2x internal HD back, and get my 2nd display work? thanks
