How to keep photos in the album order when making a slideshow?

When I create a slideshow from an album, the photo order completely changes. How do I stop that from happening? I have tried the previously mentioned trick of pressing ctrl while clicking the album to make the slideshow but this does not work for me.

I'm using Photos version 7.

Thanks for any help!

Don't use an elaborate template for the slideshow. These are fixed and images are moved around to fit the template. Stick to the Ken Burns or the Classic and you should be okay.

Alternatives to Photos slideshow include:

iMovie is on every Mac sold.

Others, in order of price:

PhotoToMovie  $49.95

PhotoStage   $60/$80 (depending on the version you prefer)

FotoMagico $99

Final Cut Pro X $299

Other folks have good results with apps like Keynote or Powerpoint.

It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

It depends on the system version, if creating a slideshow from an album will preserve the order of the photos.

Ctrl-clicking the album does not work on the current system version macOS 13 Ventura either.

You could try to add the photos individually, one-by-one.

Or create the slideshow in smaller parts, a separate slideshow for each part or the slideshow. It is easier to fix the order of the photos, if you only have to rearrange short sections of the slideshow, because we do not hav to drag the photos over large distances. Then export the parts as video clips and combine them in a new slideshow.
