I want to copy a video to my M2 Mac Mini and then burn more copies

I could be mistaken, but I think you just

1. Insert the home-made DVD-Video disc.
2. Quit out of DVD Player. It's going to show you the navigation menu on your home-made DVD, not a menu for making more copies.
3. Run Disk Utility (in the Applications / Utilities folder).
4. Use Disk Utility to create a disk image file on your Mac, from the contents of the home-made DVD-Video disc.
5. Use Disk Utility to burn that disk image to as many blank DVD-Video discs as you want.

I remember doing this years ago, after having created a home photo/video disc with iDVD, because it was MUCH faster to burn a copy from a disk image than to wait for iDVD to re-encode all of the photos and videos to create extra copies "from scratch."

The DVD player integrated with Mac is just an app to play video DVDs, and it can't burn your videos to DVD. Also, when you right-click the videos you want to burn, you will see Burn "xxxxx" to Disc option, which will help you burn a data DVD. To burn multiple playable DVD copies, I am using Cisdem DVD Burner.

Handbrake might be useful for getting the video off of the dvd?? Then as BDAqua mentioned, “Burn” will make it easy…,Handbrake is at http:// handbrake.fr

I use Roxio Toast to make my home movies. Easy to use and has some background/title effects that can be used. You can pick the output resolution up to Blu-ray.

Handbrake is also good to just rip the DVD and create copies that are usable on any computer or device with most any video app like iTunes or TV or on a Windows PC eliminating a need to use a DVD.
