trying to setup yahoo mail account in the mail app on my apple laptop
after entering username and password i get "yahoo mail failed to authenticate" error
the app was working fine with this yahoo account until connection problems made me delete the account and reinstall it.

I found a solution for this.
This worked for me and I now have my Yahoo! emails actively coming into the Mail app on my Mac.

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts, have you highlighted that account & clicked the tiny minus icon below?
Yes, but to do that it asks for my password and round and round we go again ending up in a message saying it failed to authenticate with Yahoo please try again later
You mean where it asks for your admin PW?
Are you runing in an admin account?
Have you tried another Browser?
Yes, I think I've tried everything, apart from talking to Yahoo people...
I've just about had enough of Yahoo not being approachable and thinking of going to gmail

I tried all of this and when it asks which apps, gives you the choice of Mail and Notes, I cannot get passed this no matter what I pick, its just stuck here.
My e mail service provider does not permit the process that you have outlined. Rogers Yahoo blocks the ability to use your method.
