Remove your email account, then add it back

If no other solutions work:

1. Remove your email account in Mail.
2. Add your email account in Mail again. When adding the account, make sure that you choose the correct email service provider for your email address.
3. Try again to send and receive email.

B. Disable a VPN:

Are you using a VPN? If so, disable it while trying to connect. Avoid using a VPN all together, unless required for school or work, as Security Software just gets in the way on a Mac, and this is a pure example of how and why.

C. Use of an App Password:
