What happened to my Mac Mail account?

All of a sudden I stop receiving email. I try to sign in, unable to connect. I go to my provider's webpage & change my password, then try to sign in on Mac Mail, still "unable to verify account name or password" What gives?Same on my iPhone. I even removed the app & reinstalled, still nothing.

Mail account not working - unable to verify account name or password I've been using my Mac for 10years and have successfully used Mail (aol.com) for that time - the odd occasion when there have been delays but nothing significant. Three days ago, I got the message above when I was asked to enter my account name & password. I have tried everything that I've seen suggested - where I've been able to - including setting up a new Mac User account - nothing works. I know my email account is fine as I can use it on my iPhone and web browser. The Mac support line won't help me anymore as they say my Mac is too old but the only problem I have is with my email - my Mac is fine otherwise! I am starting to doubt myself - perhaps in trying to solve it, have I tripped myself up? Any help would be very gratefully received!

One of several Yahoo emails not working I collected my MacBook Air from the Apple Store yesterday after they performed a fresh install (for a separate issue), however, one of my 5 Yahoo email address now says "offline", but yet the other 4 Yahoo addresses are fine. In Apple Mail (OSX 12.3.1), there isn't any option to update the password or verify the account. I shouldn't have to because nothing has actually changed (I just wanted to walk myself through it as part of the procedure when checking everything). The account works fine on my iPad Pro and iPhone, just not in the desktop Apple Mail app. Also, when I try to send a test email, I receive a dialogue box asking to choose another outgoing server (that's because it says 'offline'). Upon opening the Connection Doctor, it shows green lights for all of my private domain name email addresses and also 4 Yahoo email addresses, but the failed address shows two red lights ("could not connect to this IMAP server"), but yet the other 4 are fine. Everything worked great before I took the machine back to Apple Store last Friday, but after the fresh install this particular email address is now not working. My other private domain name email addresses also work fine, just not 1 of the 5 Yahoo addresses. I have 12 email address in total. So, why do 11 email addresses work fine, but one doesn't? Again, they all work fine on my iPad Pro and iPhone. Weird. Yahoo does not offer help unless you pay £5 or something like that. So, does anyone have any advice? Thanks : )

Unable to verify account name or password when setting up email. I was unable to send email (but could receive) in my mail account on my Macbook pro. It was suggested that I delete the account and reinstall it. Unfortunately, I didn't save my password. When I try to setting up my account again, I get the error message (in red), "Unable to verify account name or password". I called my internet provider and they had me change my password. I did. Still doesn't work. I use this email on my phone, and had to change my password on there as well. That is working. Any suggestions on how I can retrieve my password, or bypass that and reinstall with a new password. Been working on this for 3 days. TY in advance.

Based on the little information you have provided, I will attempt to offer some thoughts which may help. First, I will assume that you have not otherwise done any other changes or installations. It sounds as if the problem may lie with your email service provider (whomever they are). I recommend that you contact their customer service people for assistance in working it out. Sometimes the solution is to first save any current email message to a local folder, then delete the account from Mail. Next, set up a new account carefully entering your ID and passwords. This will often resolve the issues.
