I found a solution for this.

  • Delete your Yahoo! account from Internet Accounts.

  • Go to your Yahoo! account in your browser.

  • Click on your account on the top right.

  • Click Security.

  • Click Generate and manage app passwords.

  • Enter "Mail" when prompted for an App.

  • Copy the password Yahoo creates.

  • On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts.

  • Instead of clicking Yahoo!, click Add Other Account.

  • Click @ Mail account.

  • Enter your Yahoo! email address and paste the app password you just generated on the Yahoo! website.

This worked for me and I now have my Yahoo! emails actively coming into the Mail app on my Mac.

Apologies for my late reply and thank you for confirming. I'm happy for you that you're able to utilize your MacMail on your laptop. I was just speaking with a manager from our internet carrier yesterday because I had been locked out of my Yahoo mail for some reason and he said that this MacMail issue has been going on for months and is based on Apple's concern with interface security. They continue to meet with Apple regularly, but its ongoing and doesn't look like it will be rectified anytime soon, unfortunately.

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad that you've found my postings somewhat informative and I'm sorry to hear that you're having the same issue. I found this thread on Apple Community after I lost access to my MacMail in early Sept when we needed to create a new email address with Rogers. If I had have known that by letting the Rogers agent temporarily change my Yahoo password in order to create a new email address, I wouldn't have given them permission to do so. Strike one against Rogers.... no one at the entry level of customer service seems to be aware of this issue, its only until you escalate up the chain and open a ticket that you find out what the problem really is. I've spent way too much time on this issue, but I was really annoyed and wanted some answers. Two of our email addresses can't access MacMail, but one still can because the password is neither new or been changed since May 2023. It seems as though I've gone as far as I can go at this point and I will definitely keep you updated if you will do the same.

Sorry, I'm just seeing this now.... That's really a shame that you lost all of your Rogers emails on your Mac. iPhone and iPad will still work the same because they do not use the same integration as MacMail, but I'm not 16 anymore and don't want to type long emails with various attachments on my phone. ;-) If you have the patience, call Rogers and ask them to open a ticket for you about this issue and that way you can: 1. Use that ticket to get through Customer Service faster the next time you need to speak with someone and it will be a manager who knows more, and 2. They'll provide you with updates when and if this issue is ever resolved.

I can unequivocally say this does *not* work on a MacBook Pro Mid 2015 running macOS Monterrey 12.7.5. This is after about 10+ tries doing exactly what is described as working. It does not work on this computer running this version of macOS.

That said, it *does* work on my MacPro 2019 running macOS Sonoma 14.5 which leads me to asking - has anyone found a way to make it work on Monterey?
