Captive portal disappears after locking my iPhone 12( IOS 16.4)

Hello,

Please review my issue, I am connecting a public WiFi network (Captive enabled) with my iPhone 12 (IOS 16.4).

Once after captive portal loaded I have locked my phone, Immediately when I unlock my mobile I don't see captive portal there.

It got disappeared, Even though I have disconnected and connected back the same WiFi, I don't see captive portal loaded.

Disappearing captive portal after locking iPhone is IOS 16.4 behaviour?

iPhone 12, iOS 16

Hello AshokShankar,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you.

If the network disappears once the iPhone has been locked, the best option is to try the steps provided in Use captive Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support under section: If you can’t automatically join a network. This should help with the issue you're facing.

If you can’t automatically join a network

Your iPhone and iPad can remember network and login information so that you can automatically reconnect to that network when you're in range.

If your device doesn't automatically join a captive Wi-Fi network:

1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
2. Tap the More Info button  next to the network name.
3. Make sure that Auto-Join is on.

If you don't want to connect automatically, turn off Auto-Join. To see the Welcome screen the next time that you connect to the network, turn off Auto-Login.

It's also a good idea to ensure that you're using the most up to date software offered for your device, as this can fix issues you experience with previous iOS releases. If you haven't updated to iOS 16.5, go ahead and backup your iPhone and install the update. Once completed test to see if the issue persists.

Hi AshokShankar,

You can try using the Auto-Join feature:

If you can’t automatically join a network
Your iPhone and iPad can remember network and login information so that you can automatically reconnect to that network when you're in range.
If your device doesn't automatically join a captive Wi-Fi network:
1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
2. Tap the More Info button  next to the network name.
3. Make sure that Auto-Join is on.
If you don't want to connect automatically, turn off Auto-Join. To see the Welcome screen the next time that you connect to the network, turn off Auto-Login.

Otherwise, you'll want to contact the captive network provider. They may have it set up to automatically disconnect when not being actively used.

Take care!

Thanks for responding my Post!!!

My issue is not about network, Network is not disappeared with lock only captive screen is disappeared.

When I connect the public network, Captive screen popped up where I was entering some details and locked my phone. When I unlock my mobile, Despite of connected with network, I don't see the captive screen there.

I had to restart my phone and connected to the same network to get the captive screen again , In that screen I have fill all my details again.

Thanks
