Lost excel after update to OS Catalina

I have an older Macbook Air and updated to Catalina. Now I can't access dropbox, excel and word. Please help!!!

I still have other 365 applications such as Word and PowerPoint opening from the Mac. If I open my web based subscription I can open word documents and PowerPoint documents on my hard drive but using the excel application, it won’t recognise my excel files as after the upgrade these documents are in Apple’s Numbers format. Microsoft Excel missing after update On July 15, 2022, an update was performed on my MacBookPro. After that, MS Excel is missing. How can I restore it? I still have Word and PowerPoint. Thanks!

Excel is trying to open non .xlsx files I recently updated my MS Excel to 16.73 and when I try to open the program, it immediately tries to open files in my documents folder, regardless of the document format, and I get a string of pop up boxes telling me a file isn't compatible with Excel. I deleted the program as advised, restarted the MacBook, reinstalled, and same thing. Tonight I downloaded the Excel update, which claimed to have bug fixes, and it is the same thing. Is there a way to delete not just the app but also the file associated with the app and start completely fresh, meaning that it says "Get" in the app store as opposed to having the download cloud? No issues with Word or Powerpoint, but Excel is essentially useless now. Upgrading to Ventura made no difference whatsoever. Thanks.

Look into the Free LibreOffice, it handles MS Office files like Word & Excel, & Page Layout…

Office 2019 is available for sale in limited places and can restore such access on Catalina. I use it on my Monterey Mac OS X.
