Assign static address to external SSD

I am a photographer, and I use an external SSD to store my image and video files (it's a lot of data). The problem is, if the drive gets disconnected, it gets assigned a new address (not sure exactly what to call it), and I have to either restart my computer or relink the files to my software (Lightroom, dropbox, and DaVinci Resolve to name a few). This was NEVER an issue in Monterey, and it started the day I upgraded to Ventura.

Is there a way to assign a static address/port/filepath or whatever it would be called so that those file paths are recognized as soon as I plug it back in?

Is it getting a number like – one appended to the name?

The name should remain the same no matter what. However, sometimes the mount point will get orphaned if it gets disconnected before it’s ready to be disconnected, and a folder will remain in its place. Without the drive connected if there is a folder in /Volumes with the name of the drive, that is an orphan and you can delete it.
