Voicemails not showing up on iPhone

Callers to my iPhone are able to leave voice mail but their voice mails are not showing up AND the little red balloon doesn't appear after they leave me a message.

I performed many troubleshooting steps to no avail.

Clarification:

My voice mail was fully functional up until a few days ago. Then suddenly new voice mails were no longer being indicated with a red balloon nor were they showing up in the Voicemail area at the bottom of my screen. However, they were still being stored. because I could listen to them when I accessed my mail box.

I can access my voice mail box and listen to the messages I received. The problem is I'm not seeing the messages listed in the voicemail section of my screen. And when new --and unlistened to-- voice messages come in, I don't see the small red balloon flag notifyin me about how many vm's i have that were not listened to.

RESOLVED! I had to call Verizon Cellular support and they had to do some sort of "reset" to my Voice mail.

Although the support analyst warned me that I might lose my existing voice messages, turns out I didn't lose any of my voice mails.

I should be able to reset my own voice mail and not have to call Verizon.

I have been dealing with missing visual voicemails for over two years. Have been into the store or called tech too many times to count. I have also upgraded a phone to try to correct. I have been doing a network reset but now that isn't working all the time. Did your reset help long term or are you still having issues?

Solved for me:

  1. Call your carrier's voicemail from your phone by holding the 1 key
  2. Listen to your voicemails
  3. Have someone call you and leave a test voicemail
  4. The carrier's voicemail should then sync up to your Phone app and you'll see your other saved messages appear again

Note:

  • You may have to set/disable a voicemail password. I did this, but not sure if it was necessary.
  • There seems to just be a re-sync that happens when calling your voicemail carrier.

Good luck.

There is no Voicemail icon.

You need turn On your voicemail box.

Then call your voicemail box number -> xxxx to listen to the main menu.

Every Carrier has their own main menu, so check it with your carrier.

An example here:

1.

Choose 2 for the personal settings of your voicemail.

Choose 3 for PIN code and choose a 4 digit code. You can also change your pin code here and indicate when your voicemail should ask for the pin code.

FYI: if you enter an incorrect code 3 times and you will receive a temporary code via SMS. You can change that later

2.

Unheard messages are stored for 8 days. Messages you've listened to will be gone after 24 hours. Longer storage is also possible. Press 5 while listening to your message and it will be saved for 7 days.

Which voicemail box number you should call depends on your carrier, the voicemail settings are controlled by your carrier, so contact your carrier.

When you get a voicemail you will get a sms message from your Carrier, so you can listen to your voicemail messages.

When you get a voicemail you will get a sms message from your Carrier, so you can listen to your voicemail messages.

For each voicemail you get a message from your carrier.

The voicemail settings are controlled by your carrier, so contact / call your carrier.

You will get an answer faster if you contact / call your carrier.
