Voicemails not showing up on iPhone

Callers to my iPhone are able to leave voice mail but their voice mails are not showing up AND the little red balloon doesn't appear after they leave me a message.

I performed many troubleshooting steps to no avail.

FIXED!! - This happened to me too. I turned my phone off and on, and turned my mobile data off and on too. After calling apple and checking all the notifications were turned on, I then had to call my Telco. They got me to call the message bank number and delete all my messages from there 1st, then told me to go to the voicemail icon on my phone and scroll down and find the 'deleted messages' and click on it. They said to permanently delete the messages in the 'deleted message box' and like magic when I went back to my voicemail icon, the messages all started popping up and I had the count bubble back.

Solved for me:

  1. Call your carrier's voicemail from your phone by holding the 1 key
  2. Listen to your voicemails
  3. Have someone call you and leave a test voicemail
  4. The carrier's voicemail should then sync up to your Phone app and you'll see your other saved messages appear again

Note:

  • You may have to set/disable a voicemail password. I did this, but not sure if it was necessary.
  • There seems to just be a re-sync that happens when calling your voicemail carrier.

Good luck.

This was a great tip @zw8, thanks. I have AT&T on a new iphone 15, red bubble but no voicemail listed (although "Recent" calls listed the caller correctly with the correct time of the call). as zw8 said, press and hold 1 to access voicemail, listen to voicemail, save it.

Then i logged in to AT&T wireless and checked out their online voicemail troubleshooter:

after answering a few questions it responded with "we've sent a sync/update/reset to your phone. did this fix it?"

i shut down and restarted the phone and now all is good. i see VM and transcript and the red bubble disappeared after i reviewed the call.

If you use an app to manage your calls/voicemails - such as Robokiller - you may have granted permissions to have the app use its own voicemail services.

If you no longer use the app, you cannot simply delete the app and everything returns “back to normal”.

You will need to reinstall the app, launch the app, go to its “Settings” (for example, the Robokillers Voicemail Settings, NOT your main iPhone Settings app) to make sure you properly turn off “Robokillers Voicemail”.

I should also note that I had called Verizon to reset my voicemail (just in case). Verizon had reset my voicemail on their end, told me to restart my phone, and then call *86.

Please bear in mind, your mileage may vary as you might have used a different app than I did and/or have a different carrier; however, the overall process should be similar.

Hope this helps as I had just fixed my voicemail problem as I write this out on my phone.

I don't see the small red balloon flag notifyin me about how many vm's i have that were not listened to.

When you get a voicemail you will get a sms message from your Carrier, so you can listen to your voicemail messages.

For each voicemail you get a message from your carrier.

The voicemail settings are controlled by your carrier, so contact / call your carrier.

You will get an answer faster if you contact / call your carrier.

I’m having a similar problem, they show up in the call log and the ActiveArmor call log for AT&T but I went to look and there was a voicemail indicator there for just a split second and vanished. It says there was a two minute and 30 second activity on this call so they must’ve left a message, or it recorded background noise or whatever, but I can’t see it in my phone voicemail log
