If you're experiencing issues with the battery in your iPhone draining faster than expected I would first recommend updating to iOS 16.5 (the latest release at this date) to see if this may fix the issue. If this doesn't help the below documents outline a few of the best ways to troubleshoot the issue.
I have seen some reports that battery life on iOS 16.4 did degrade from 16.3 so this may be related to as software bug that will likely have been fixed in future updates if not in 16.5.

Optimize your settings.
There are two simple ways you can preserve battery life — no matter how you use your device: adjust your screen brightness and use Wi‑Fi.
Dim the screen or turn on Auto-Brightness to extend battery life.
- To dim, open Control Center and drag the Brightness slider to the bottom.
- Auto-Brightness adjusts your screen to lighting conditions automatically. To activate it, go to Settings > Accessibility. Tap Display & Text Size, then turn on Auto-Brightness.
When you use your device to access data, a Wi‑Fi connection uses less power than a cellular network — so keep Wi‑Fi on at all times. To turn on Wi‑Fi, go to Settings > Wi‑Fi to access a Wi‑Fi network.

View Battery Usage information
With iOS, you can easily manage your device’s battery life, because you can see the proportion of your battery used by each app (unless the device is charging). To view your usage, go to Settings > Battery.
Here are the messages you may see listed below the apps you’ve been using:
Background Activity. This indicates that the battery was used by the app while it was in the background — that is, while you were using another app.
- To improve battery life, you can turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and select Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi & Cellular Data, or Off to turn off Background App Refresh entirely.
- If the Mail app lists Background Activity, you can choose to fetch data manually or increase the fetch interval. Go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Fetch New Data.
Location and Background Location. This indicates that the app is using location services.
- You can optimize your battery life by turning off Location Services for the app. Turn off in Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
- In Location Services, you can see each app listed with its permission setting. Apps that recently used location services have an indicator next to the on/off switch.
Home & Lock Screen. This indicates that the Home screen or Lock screen was displayed on your device. For example, the display was awakened by pressing the Home button or by a notification.
- If an app frequently wakes your display with notifications, you can turn off push notifications for the app in Settings > Notifications. Tap the app and set Allow Notifications to Off.
No Cell Coverage and Low Signal. This indicates either that you are in a poor cell coverage area and your iOS device is searching for a better signal or that you’ve used your device in low-signal conditions, which has affected your battery life.
- You can optimize your battery life by turning on Airplane mode. Open Control Center and tap the Airplane mode icon. Note that you cannot make or receive calls while in Airplane mode.

i just had to get a new phone cause this is the second time that my battery health dropped below 90% in less than a year. And my warranty ran out, of course. The 13 pro just has battery issues and they know it.
Just updated my phone 13 pro max to iOS 17.4 and my phone battery is going from 100% to 50% in a matter of 2-3 hours with calling, text, and safari usage. Forget about running any other app that weren't factory installed because that is even worse. Just typing this took my battery down 3%. My background app refresh is off, WiFi is off, Bluetooth off, screen brightness all the way down…I turned everything that could be the culprit off and nothing is helping.
I have the same darn thing going on with my iphone and ipad! The battery just plummets every day, you can almost which it tic down like a timer. I've been to the apple store 4 times! They tell me it's something to do with my icloud, but they don't know what it is or how to fix it.
This is one of the most frustrating things I've ever had to deal with! I don't want to, but I may have to go to a different device manufacturer.
I personally do no think it has anything to do with the updates. I think it might have something to do with Icloud, but I do not know for sure. Verizon replaced the phone once, but the issue persists.
Like I said before, I've been back and forth to the Apple store 4 times, and they cannot explain why this is happening or fix the phone. It's crazy!
Apples battery on the 13s are TERRIBLE. I have the 13 Pro Max, not even a year and a half old, and the battery health is at 89%. It’s dropped from 98% to this 89% today over the course of 4 weeks. 4 WEEKS!! What the **** are you people selling anymore?
That's not how batteries work, you can't set them back to a higher value.
Batteries degrade over time with usage due to chemical aging, that's just how they work.
You can expect about a 1% drop per month with average use on an iPhone. This is an approximation, that is why it may be plus or minus a few percent on a month to month basis.
Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. To check your battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

Iphone 14 pro max battery draining after ios 17.5.1 update
I recently upgraded to ios 17.5.1 and now battery is draining very fast is there any solution? Will apple be providing update to fix the same
I think in the past there has been value in talking to the community but it seems little changes now. Especially over the issues of battery decrease on iPhone 13 Pro and iOS 17.5.1.
Is the Apple about to fall from the tree and become a windfall?
All my telephoney devices are wacky since iPhone 6 battery drain update issue. Even my Call Caption and new Samsung s24 ultra are affected. Fast battery drain, problems with hearing aide Bluetooth connections and many other problems. How can I correct this? Many thanks in advance.
Same exact issue. I’m going back to Android when my contract is done. I know Apple does this to force you to get a new device. You want me to do that, then provide the device for free. Junky product; I’ll never get another Apple device as my phone has to be charged multiple times a day which makes it pretty useless.
