Airpods Max reliability disappointing
Product crashes and cannot be reset. This has happened on two occasions in the last 30 days. I wear them to bed (loud house) and can leave them on for hours. The crash is either related to condensation from extended wear (hours is considered too long for this design I've learned - so much for an international flight noise canceling headphone) or IOS updates. I'm on beta operating systems and the issues loosely coincide with software updates. In either case, I can't reset the product and it sits idle. The product is 2 years old and out of warranty. I scheduled a service at the local Apple Store where I was told repair was possible. Apple Store told me that they would have to ship out for diagnostics ($300 cost before fix, if fixable). The first time the issue occurred it lasted a couple of days and then the Airpods magically reconnected and were fine (condensation dried up?). The issue has resurfaced again. Product shows no life, no indication of charging, hard reset does nothing. Nice product but nowhere near the reliability expected for this price point. And the limitations of use are unacceptable - don't workout with them, avoid humid climate, don't wear too long, avoid temperature changes, etc.
