TouchID is very slow to start and suddenly stopped working on my M1 MacBookAir. When I open the lid it takes approx. 5 seconds to be able to attempt to use touchID; even after it's available it always fails. If I add a new fingerprint, it works only until the screen locks.

Try removing all finger prints—

verify your software is up to date…
The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.4

Unfortunately, none of this worked. Any other suggestions?
As mentioned, if I add a new finger print, it works only for a little while but this at least makes me think its not the touchID sensor itself (not hardware related).
