Recently discovered that FaceID is no longer in device settings for the Amex app. Amex said it’s nothing they control, contact Apple. Soooo, why is there no Face ID option to toggle on for the Amex app? I’ve been using for quite some time. Now…it’s gone. Help.

I still use face id to get into my Amex card, there is an option when you first open the app to use/set up face id.
The ability to use face id for a 3rd party app isn't an Apple issue, but with the app itself, in your case Amex.
My husband just got a new Pro Max 15 and lost this face rec on the AMEX app. Whenever he tries to set it up on the app, he gets an error message. He’s even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing works.
Same thing happened with the Amex app when I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Supposedly someone from Amex is getting back to me in the next few days. I'll post back if there's anything positive to report. This is not the only app functionality I lost in the iPhone upgrade. The AMC+ app stopped functioning altogether. I opened a case with them too.
