Apple Card $75 Cashback at Nike

Ok so i just opened a new apple card and saw that they had a promotion going on where you’d get $75 in cashback if you spent $75 at nike with apple pay. I’ve done that and i’m just wondering when i’ll get my cash back and how.

Sorry you had this experience. Nike indeed offers Apple Pay online at Nike.com, in their app and at brick and mortar stores. Here are screenshots I just took of both their checkouts (app and online).

None of us here are Apple employees., just fellow Apple users, like yourself. I understand your confusion as a new customer and while I sympathize with your situation, you failed to fulfill the terms and conditions of the offer. If you receive compensation, as a goodwill gesture, you should consider yourself very lucky. I know this wasn’t what you expected to hear, but you can see both sites clearly offer Apple Pay.

My advice stands, if you’re dissatisfied, return the product for a refund.

In the future you may want to have the terms and conditions explained to you. Ask here in the Apple Support Community, or on Reddit or the numerous Facebook Groups. People will gladly explain the details of the terms and conditions so you don’t make the same mistake again.

I didn't know the $75 Apple Card invitation came with the condition that you must spend $75 at Nike. That is cheesy. On the other hand, kick back. First you must wait for the Nike transaction to cease pending status, and then at 8 a.m. the next day you'll get what is coming to you in Apple Cash, or however you've chosen to receive your Daily Cash back. More, you could also call an Apple Card specialist. They'll know exactly when you'll receive your $75.

There are 2 promotions going on at the same time with different requirements. One is the $75 Sign Up Bonus (SUB) and the second is the 6% Daily Cash back offer with Nike. Which are you inquiring about?

Did you get an invite from a friend? Then if you followed the link, applied and were approved for the card and then made a purchase, the $75 will go into your Daily Cash after the transaction/charge has finalized. Please see Terms & Conditions below for complete details.

Subject to credit approval. Valid only for new Apple Card holders who apply under this promotion at apple.co/referdailycash, open an account by June 6, 2023 and make a purchase within 30 days of opening the Apple Card account. Accounts opened after June 6, 2023 do not qualify. Not valid for existing Apple Card users who merge their Apple Card accounts to become Co-Owners with other existing Apple Card users, or for Co-Owners or Participants added on a new Apple Card Family account. For clarity, any spend by Apple Card Family Participants and Co-Owners does not qualify. $75 cash back is earned as Daily Cash and is transferred to the new account’s Apple Cash card after the first transaction posts to the new Apple Card account. A return of a purchase on which the new account earned the $75 Daily Cash bonus may result in a $75 Daily Cash adjustment charge to the new account. An additional purchase made during the offer period may qualify the new account for re-fulfillment of the $75 Daily Cash bonus, but re-fulfillment may be delayed. Changes to the new account status during the offer period may delay the fulfillment of the Daily Cash bonus. An Apple Cash card is required to use Daily Cash, except if you do not have an Apple Cash card, in which case you can only apply your Daily Cash as a credit on your statement balance. The Apple Cash card is issued by Green Dot Bank, Member FDIC. See apple.com/apple-pay for more information. Daily Cash is earned on purchases after the transaction posts to your account. Actual posting times vary by merchant. Daily Cash is subject to exclusions, and additional details apply. See the Apple Card Customer Agreement for more details. If we determine that the new account holder has engaged in or plans to engage in abuse or gaming in connection with this offer the new account will not be eligible for this offer.

The Nike offer will apply in addition to the SUB outlined above.

I opened a new Apple savings and credit card account on May 2 and then purchased shoes at the Nike store on 5/4/23 with the credit card and still have not received my $75 from Goldman Sachs Apple. I received the 6% cash into savings immediately. I contacted support via chat on 5/6 and they said you will receive the $75 before 30 days. The May statement posted end of May and no credit yet. I contacted today 6/5/23 and now they are telling me they have to open a Daily Cash inquiry and should be able to provide me resolution by 6/19/23. I am wondering if there are other users out there experiencing the same issue.

See Bartender0618's response above. According to them, they didn't select Apple Pay while making a purchase at Nike, but used their Apple Card. As a result, they were not rewarded for the $75. Did you use Apple Pay? Personally, I think it's a systematic wrinkle that Apple should smooth over, or at least meet your expectations and reward you the $75. More, so that others can learn from your experience, will you share the Daily Cash resolve? Good luck.

Goldman Sachs responded with the answer to my ticket.

Your account does not qualify for this promotion because the customer opened the application on 04/29/2023.

I am disappointed with this response but understand the terms and conditions probably said that somewhere.

I honestly went to the Nike store based on information promoting from various non-apple websites that said you could get $75 so I figured I would buy two pair of shoes. Those websites stated just have to apply for a new apple card and make purchase before 5/31/23 but did not indicate that the account had to be opened only from 5/1 to 5/31.

Lesson learned on this one and will read the terms again for future promotions. The good news is the savings account pays 4.15% where my bank only pays 0.01% and that is the only reason I got the card.

Here is the response from them.

We received feedback regarding your Apple Card account and are looking into it.

Your inquiry has been investigated. You contacted us on 06/05/2023 regarding the $75 Nike promotion. We have investigated your inquiry and determined that no error occurred on your transaction dated 05/05/2023 at Nike for $129.22 using Digital Card. The $75 Nike promotion is valid only for new Apple Card accounts opened between 5/1/23 through 5/31/23 (Offer Period). Earn $75 Daily Cash when you make Qualifying Purchases at Nike totaling $75 or more within 30 days of account opening using Apple Card with Apple Pay. Qualifying Purchases at Nike include purchases made within the U.S. using Apple Card with Apple Pay at participating Nike stores, Nike.com, the Nike mobile app, the Nike SNKRS mobile app, or nike.com/Swoosh (collectively Nike Platforms). Excluded from Qualifying Purchases are Nike products sold outside of the Nike Platforms by third party merchants. Qualifying Purchases can only be made by the New Apple Card account holder who opens a new Apple Card account during this offer period. New Apple Card account holder does not include Co-Owners or Participants added to Apple Card Family during the offer period. Your account does not qualify for this promotion because the customer opened the application on 04/29/2023

I opened an Apple Card within the offer timeframe. I used my Macbook to shop Nike.com, thinking I'd get the 75 dollars. Nike.com didn't offer Apple Pay as an option. On the Nike.com checkout page, it only says "Credit or Debit Card" or "Paypal." Below this it says "Add card." In general, I've found Nike.com problematic in the past. I remember it took a bit to add my Apple Card and to complete my transaction. The wording in the offer says "with your Apple Card with Apple Pay", which to me is a branding slogan. Nowhere does it say you "must use Apple Pay." Don't mention the Apple Card next time! Just say Apple Pay. Again, Nike.com didn't offer Apple Pay as an option, even though the offer says you can use that site. I called and spoke to a representative. She read the offer and I countered with my facts. She said she'd escalate my comments for customer satisfaction reasons, but I don't expect this to go anywhere. I think for customer expectations reasons, this should have erred on the side of customers. In the future, have lawyers write clearer offer rules. Seriously, the bank bonus offers on new accounts are done better than this.

I understand your confusion and appreciate your position. Obviously, you feel strongly about your issue and hope you prevail in your disputes. Arguing with me solves nothing and you should put your energies into continuing your dispute.

I’ve also given you paths forward when similar offers are made available to you in the future. Reach out to the extensive support community available for credit card account owners. I wish you well.

I'm late to this Apple Card/Nike game. It took me a long time to realize I didn't get my credit. I was never given an "Apple Pay" option. I used my Macbook and the Nike.com site. I just checked it, months later, and there still is no Apple Pay option. I've been in contact with Apple/Goldman Sachs on three seperate times about this issue. Clearly, they're at fault and don't want to make amends.
