unknown microphone usage
Ever since I bought my MacBook Air there's been this orange dot in the corner then what's using my microphone?

The Microphone or Camera is in use. So, to disable this, try the following...
A. Close All Apps:
Close all apps, and try this once more. Use Force Quit for this. See if this applications open. If that is the case, save what need be (if possible), and then Force Quit. Attempt this once more.
B. Remove Login Items:
Go To: System Preferences > Users & Groups > Click your Username > Login Items > Rid of Terminal, and remove any unnecessary items.
C. Single Out this User:
See what happens when you create a new Administrator user. Log in to it, seeing if anything is different. If it works, then it is something misconfigured in this current user.
D. Try Safe Mode:
Boot into Safe Mode, seeing if it goes away while not in it. In Safe Mode, corrupted system setting files (caches), are intentionally fixed.

Mute Input Volume in Terminal:
Open Terminal, and use the following command. Report back if this orange dot goes away.
Use Spotlight: Hold Down: Command Press the Spacebar > Type: Terminal > Open: Terminal > Use this command:
osascript -e "set volume input Volume 0"
Say "Hey Siri why is there an orange dot next to the microphone on my Mac?"
