Ask to Buy for Adults

Unlike Amazon, Apple does not allow administrators of the account to restrict family members from using their purchase option. Ask to Buy disappears when family members turn 18. Why? Apple allows administrators to continue to restrict adult content when family members turn 18. So they can’t see things if restricted but can purchase whatever they want? Is the only option really to Remove from Family?

Hello Jbjingle,

You cannot use Ask to Buy for adults, but if your concern is with purchases charging to the organizers payment method - there is a solution.

To avoid purchases being charged to the family organizers payment method, other family members can add funds to their Apple ID balance: Add money to your Apple Account balance - Apple Support
