Customizing the home screen?

I am trying (struggling, is more like it!) with my transition to becoming a cable cutter & have the following questions.

Is there a way to 'manage' all my streaming content through Apple TV?

I've got several apps that I use, Netflix, Philo, Peacock, Amazon Prime & a few others, but am having a hard time getting back to where I was!

Especially aggravating when the wife, who is no fan of change, is trying to fumble her way through it!

I know there are a lot of people who pay to advertise on that home page, but frankly I'm not interested in most of it!

Is there a way I can keep recently watched content, and the app its viewed via, grouped somewhere on that home screen?

but I cannot get the home screen to display up next / continue watching.

Up Next is a feature of the TV app, not of the device or the Home Screen. However, an interactive copy of Up Next can be displayed in the “Top Shelf” (above the app tiles) on the Home Screen, when the TV app is the highlighted app in the top row, through an app setting: Settings﹥Apps﹥TV﹥Top Shelf﹥Up Next.

I also bought a gen 2 Siri Remote, in my never ending quest to keep the two TVs as similar to each other as possible, but new remote just will not pair with the TV!

It should pair with the Apple TV box, not with the TV!

Did you try to pair using the remote button combination as described in: If your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote isn't working - Apple Support

holding down back button & volume up

Yeah, that’s the procedure, hold both down simultaneously for a few seconds. Then a notification should appear on screen.

Users may re-arrange the icons on the home screen as they see fit. E.g. move your five most used apps to the first row. You may even group app icons in a folder.

Users may set (program) the TV button on the remote to go the the Home Screen (instead of the TV app), for a fast way back to a familiar starting point.

Select apps allow connecting to the Apple TV app, where shows may additionally be listed in Watch Now, Up Next and included in Apple TV app Search. Other apps did not apply to participate in this Apple TV app integration (e.g. Netflix).

For supporting apps, users may set which apps can connect and which may not.

Users have no influence over what is showcased in the top display inside the Apple TV app, however. That is pushed by Apple. Lots of Apple TV+, and some content from the iTunes Store or connected apps.

When I enabled ‘one Home Screen’’, my Home Screen changed to Up Next at the top - is that normal? That may be a life saver, as it’s been driving the wife crazy as she learns how to navigate Apple TV as our ‘new’ provider! Making that change also moved all my icons for apps back to where everything was originally.

Also, is that stored in iCloud? This current Apple TV box will be moving to the bedroom. My new one will go here, in living room. Will current one need to be online for new one to synch up, or will signing in with my Apple ID automatically set tv like this one currently is?

It looks like all my apps, etc., are on the new TV, but I

cannot get the home screen to display up next / continue watching.

I also bought a gen 2 Siri Remote, in my never ending

quest to keep the two TVs as similar to each other as possible, but new remote

just will not pair with the TV!

BR TV is a 4k gen 1 & from what I had read, the gen 2 Siri

Remote should pair with it. I left it on the charger for a couple of hours, so

I’m assuming that it is charged up. I’m holding

remote a couple of inches away, holding down back button & volume up

button & nothing is happening…
