iMessages and Phone app

My iPhone iMessages app has been crashing and appearing with a blank screen when opening it when after hardware restarting my iPhone it would work again but when I would click a button it would freeze. This would happen with me in the Phone app where I would not send and receive phone calls and messages.

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

Press and quickly release Volume UP button
Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

Hello,

I started having the same problem (freeze of Messages app and impossible to get into Messages settings) on my iPhone XR for a few days. Hard reset hasn't really helped so far :-( Any other idea?
