Can't check checklist notes in notes app

Hi, so I recently added my iPhone to the same Apple ID as I use for my Mac. However, once I did this, I found that I could no longer check any checklists on the computer's application. I've thought about copying all my lists into a separate document, deleting notes, and reinstalling it, but I cannot copy and paste any of the notes either. I can add and delete text, create new lists, but I cannot check the boxes. Does anyone have any suggestions to what I could do? My Mac runs on version 12.5.1.

12.5.1 is a very old version of Monterey, many bugs have been fixed since then. You should update to the latest version which I believe is 12.6.6.

If that does not fix it, try booting into Safe Mode. Then restart normally. If the problem remains, then download and run the free Etrecheck and post the report (which has only anonymous information about your Mac and its configuration, including what has been installed) here using the Additional text button below. The Etrecheck output may reveal some clues.
