Smart keypad issue
have to press really hard on keys only for smart keyboard to work with iPad Air

I searched online, and I contacted geek squad Apple support for the solution to this problem with no success.. but I figured it out. This is caused by an accessibility setting that was activated. Go to settings >click on accessibility >then turn off slow keys this, should solve the problem. Thought I should share.
