Shortcuts - Send a photo through messages.

Open the camera

They take a photo

Have that photo sent to me through Messages

This elderly person has extreme difficulty navigating the device and I live across the country.

Maybe it could be activated by: "Hey Siri, take a picture".

Any helpful figuring this out will be much appreciated!

You're not mistaken.

A1. No one is a specialist on these forums. We're just everyday users like yourself. I start my replies, briefly, and then proceed from there as necessary. It's the way I author my posts.

A2. At the time of authoring your post, this was a commonly-reported occurrence on these forums. You cannot create such shortcuts --even with Siri. The GUI is designed by Apple. So, recommend to Apple that they make it such and option. And I'll leave it at that.

Do your Part: You can recommend this to AppleApple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is their customers prefer, and what features to include in iOS versions to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that you want this to be an option and why. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary.

Getting Messaged-Photos to Go Through:

This seems to be a commonly-reported bug. It's seen all the time on these forums. Question is: How many people actually report it to Apple?

Report this to Apple:

Do your part: Let Apple know what is going on here. Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Comment: that it is after installing the update when the issue began. Include the URL of this thread.
  3. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary

"Is it a bug? I was thinking it's me not knowing how to set it up correctly. Ideally, he's says, 'Hey Siri, open camera'. Aims camera at subject of photo, presses white, round button to capture image and it composes a message and sends to me."

You are welcome.

This seems to be a bug between Android and iPhone. So, if you are able to send it, then all seems fine.
