How to remove accidentally added location info in Photos on Mac?

I tend not to include location data when I take pictures with my DLSR. After importing these images in Photos, it gives me the opportunity to add location information to individual photos or groups of photos. I accidentally tried to enter a location as info for a group of photos. This was wrong though. The location was not valid for all photos. I want to remove that information linked to the photos affected. Apple seems to have hidden that possibility very well. It seems I can only change the location info by replacing it. Removing seems not to be an option. Is that true (if so, why?) ?

How can I undo the location info for a group of photos whithout having to reassess each individual photo and try to put in its accurate location (which for many of them is not at all relevant information)?

You would have to export the photos from Photos as unmodified original, then delete them from Photos and Recently Deleted, then import them again to Photos. A lot of work.

On macOS 13 Ventura, the most recent version, removing the location seems to work. I select a photo, where I added a location, then use the command "Image > Location > Revert to original location". If the original image did not have a previous location, the assigned location will be removed and the Info will show again "assign location".

Thanks for the post! We see you want to know if you can entirely remove some incorrect location information from Photos in macOS.

We did some testing and see the same results. It's possible to replace the location with another, but it does not appear to be possible to entirely clear out the location information.
