Your messages to people who are using iMessage will be blue. Messages to people who are not using iMessage but who are using SMS messaging will be green.

Note that the messages from other people will be grey or black (depending on whether you have Dark or Light mode selected). That is the same whether or not the recipient is using iMessages or SMS.

Hello bossman69boot,

In the native Messages app, you should see green or blue text bubbles depending upon whether or not you're sending SMS messages or iMessages. You can read more here: What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS? - Apple Support

If that doesn't help to clarify, let us know the following:

1.) What exact iOS version are you running? Check by tapping Settings > General > About.

2.) Are you using the native Messages app or a different app?

The more details you provide the better chance of receiving a helpful reply.

Take care.
