My iPhone is breaking AirPods (extremely rare problem i guess)

Hello,

i have a very odd problem.

i’ve had AirPods 2nd generation for a long time and always took good care of them.

2 weeks ago my right AirPod stopped working and would only work when in its charging case (i could ear sound coming from it). I can see it charging when i open the lid but as soon as i remove the right airpod from the case it is not recognized by the iPhone.

I also noticed that the battery life of the case drops very quick (couple hours) since the issue with my right AirPod. I tried to restart the iPhone, reset connectivity settings, factory reset the AirPods, nothing worked.

It came back to life the following day and the day after it stopped working forever (but still works IN the case).

I thought it just broke, i had my AirPods for a couple of years so i decided to buy a brand new pair of AirPods 3rd generation.

I have them for about a week now BUT… a couple hours ago the right AirPod from my brand new 3rd generations stopped working with the exact same symptoms. I restarted my iPhone and both AirPods are working now. I hope i will not face the same issue with this brand new pair but obviously that makes me think that my iPhone is probably the issue here…

I have the latest updates and i have no clue where could be the problem.

I didn’t find any source about a similar issue on the internet so i am giving it a try here.

I feel like my new airpods could face the same issue anytime soon

You said: "My iPhone is breaking AirPods" which are connected via Bluetooth, there is no cable even.

It is beyond belief that your iPhone is directly causing damage to your AirPods. AirPods are separate wireless earphones that function independently of your iPhone's physical components. However, it's possible that there may be another factor at play causing damage to your AirPods.

There are a few potential reasons why your AirPods might be experiencing issues or damage:

  1. AirPods, like any electronic device, can degrade over time due to regular use. Frequent use, exposure to moisture, accidental drops, or general wear and tear can lead to various issues such as reduced battery life or audio problems.
  2. If you are not handling your AirPods carefully, they can be more prone to damage. For example, pulling them out forcefully or dropping them onto hard surfaces can cause physical damage to the AirPods' casing or internal components.

It's important to note that iPhones and AirPods are designed to be compatible with each other.

To summarize, while it is highly unlikely that your iPhone is directly breaking your AirPods, there may be other factors at play that are causing damage or issues with your AirPods. It's best to assess how you handle and use your AirPods

Of course my iPhone is not physically breaking my AirPods and as i tried to explain, both my 2nd and 3rd generation AirPods may not be broken at all.

To be perfectly clear, the fact that the exact same issue affecting both my old pair of AirPods and the brand new pair i just bought as a replacement makes me think that the issue may not be related to the AirPods themselves but i am thinking about maybe a software issue regarding the wireless connectivity between the iPhone and the AirPods.
