iphone 5c Vodafone shutdown

We received a message (SMS) about 3G shutdown on our carriers network by Dec. 2023.

As I understand it Voice-Over-LTE (VoLTE) is required, but as i also understand, that is so you can do Voice calls *and* data (internet, at the same time)'

Voice calls go over GSM, not data network

If so, as long as iPhone 5c is connected to 4G, which is is (iOS 10.3.3 latest applied), the only thing we cannot do is simultaneous voice and data, which is no big deal.. My parents will not be checking any thing online while on a voice call.

Can I confirm this is how VoLTE works? If so, then the phone shouldn't be a problem.

ok,,, i think i found the answer.

I tested on this:

My iPhone 6s Plus, by turning off VoLTE (it then reconnected to data 4G network)

On my parents iphone 5c, i called my number.

My Iphone 6s Plus reverted back to 3G to receive phone call... When i hung up, it went back to 4G

So i think that's the answer... I'll need to upgrade her phone .. Dang...
