Extra spacing after punctuation

My mac keeps adding spaces after punctuation like commas and brackets, unless there is punctuation before it, and not just on some specific apps. I turned off auto spelling correction and double space periods and tried a safeboot. Nothing worked. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using the "accessibility keyboard / keyboard viewer"

Click three dots in the upper right corner/ slide down to "typing"/ uncheck "insert/remove spaces"

The accessibility keyboard / keyboard viewer allows you to see pre-emptive suggestions while you type.

Hey there kitten3333,

We appreciate you reaching out on Apple Support Communities! It looks like you've already made the changes you'd need to by disabling Add period with double-space. In this case, we'd recommend testing to see if the same behavior occurs in a newly created admin test user: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know the results.

Cheers!
