iPhone 13 Battery Draining

Apple wants me to go to Best Buy for a diagnostic test (which I will have to pay for). This test has been run four times in the past two weeks. They are telling me nothing is wrong, clearly there is ! I have watched my battery go from 100% to 89% in 4 hrs. This has been going on for two weeks now. I do not have Apple Care, nor do I want it. It is way to expensive. I had this issue approximately four years ago (just like everyone else), it was determined that Apple had to replace batteries! This is happening again. And yes, I have everything shut off on my iPhone 13, nothing is running in the background. I need to know what other folks are experiencing and if they were able to resolve this issue without paying a lot of money. I do not want a new phone, I just want this one to work ! (And yes it is paid off).

I got the iPhone 13 when it first came out. Not even a year afterwards, the phone began getting hot, losing power, iOS was slow. Then, it just died. Even Apple Care couldn’t get it to turn on or get data from it. I had to get it completely replaced. It cost me nothing, but only because it was still under a year old and the issue was a manufacturing problem.

When I checked to see what app was drinking my battery the most, it was showing google maps. What’s weird, I was playing my music at the same time. Google said 34% music said 14%.. I stopped using maps, and it seems to have slowed down.. also, when not using Wi-Fi my phone should use data, it’s not. I can’t search for anything?? And yes, I have cellular data turned on. I had this issue before, I was told no cell towers close by. I am going to a battery place to see if they can help. That’s what my sister did a couple of years ago. Wish me luck and thanks for your response

Same

My 13 is not quite a year old, was purchased new, and in the past 48 hours the battery noticeably is not staying charged nearly as long as before. I have closed everything and followed a 15-point online checklist to improve things but it’s not. Battery health says 93, which isn’t awful, but within two days I’ve somehow gone from only having to charge once to charging three times in a single day. It’s ridiculous for the price paid and now they upped the replacement battery price to $70.

My previous phone was a refurbished 6S, and I replaced the battery after five years of use. I paid retail for this 13 and after barely one year the battery is declining. Not cool, Apple.

This is a new problem. I have an iPhone 13 Pro with IOS 16.5 recently installed. Battery drains from 100% to 22% within 3 hours just sitting unplugged on the counter and connected to WiFi. Background apps refresh turned off. Everything else set to use WiFi only. Mail notifications are on. Everything else is shut off. Battery health maximum capacity shows 95% so the battery seems to be relatively healthy. There seems to be a bug in the update if all else is unchanged.

I wasn’t even offered a new battery. It is so obvious that it is an Apple issue. They tried to tell me it was damaged. It was not ! I decided not to take it to Best Buy, they were going to charge me an arm and a leg. I turn everything off ! It is still draining quickly. I have to charge it at least twice a day. Ridiculous.. wondering when Apple is going to help with this ??

Since installing 16.5 on my 13 pro max I’ve been lucky to get 3-4 hrs battery life. I’ve changed every poss setting incl keeping BT turned off until I need it. What I did just notice is when my wifi was turned off last 2 days (at hotel w/unsecure network), my battery life was significantly better. Stayed around 70%. It’s certainly not a solution to do this but wondering if anyone else has tried this to see what the impact is.

I don’t want to have to do a hard reset for that reason alone.

A hard reset, AKA a forced restart takes less than five minutes. Why do you feel you need to avoid it?

Does Apple read this? Will they ever do anything about this?

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. Apple's participation here is minimal. So, no, they are not reading your posts. If you want to address your concerns with Apple directly, you can use the "Support" link at the bottom left of every page of these forums.

There is something called a soft reset also. Maybe I’ll give that a shot.
this is a Verizon phone even though I am no longer with them. I bought the phone from them so I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what they have to say.

You can either restart the phone by shutting it off in the normal way. Or, you can do a forced restart. I have no idea what you mean by a "soft reset".
