The most important part of the article lfrupp linked is "View your purchase history."


If Apple does NOT show a record of the charges in your purchase history, it is very possible that scammers have gained access to your credit card or account number and are pretending to be Apple. It happened to us.


If that is the case, only your CARD ISSUER or financial institution can remedy it.


If Apple’s purchase history shows the purchase, continue with the instructions in that article.

Well, first of all, it looks like you weren’t charged anything because your Credit Union denied it. Not being able to update apps is usually a sign that your payment method has a problem. if you want o know what the attempted charge was for then try this link...


If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement - Apple Support


The worst thing is you have now exposed your name, who your account is with, and the last four digits of your account number to the planet! These forums can be access by anyone anywhere in the world.
