What is the network security key for my iphone?

How can I use my iphone as a hotspot with cell data via USB connection? I am getting a message asking for my network security key. What is that for a cell data connection? When I am connected to my home wifi, the router pw serves as the security key but what to use when Im away from home? Thank you
