Monterey update

I am running Monterey 12.6 and want to run the Music app from an external hard drive. Before the update I was running iTunes from an external hard drive with no problems, now Monterey defaults to the internal drive even after I change the Music app to an external hard drive. Is there an easy why to change the location to an external hard drive? Please help.

Can't see Apple music library Monterey from Big Sur I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro from Big Sur to Monterey by doing a clean install of the OS. In Big Sur I had an extensive music library with thousands of songs, song ratings and over 50 playlists all of my own music collection. Since I changed to Monterey, I copied my music folder inside the music folder to Monterey. When I open the music app, nothing at all shows up. Not one song...nothing. The music folder from Big Sur is 84mb in size. When I open the music app in Monterey the folder is only 8mb in size which I make up the music app in Monterey is deleting the info from big sur. Please tell me this is something that can be fixed. This is a nightmare.

Mac Studio running Sonoma trying to read off external drive for music Every time I try to make music look at my external drive with my old iTunes Library on, it ends up loading everything onto my new internal drive on my Mac Studio... even when I hold Option on bootup of Music and choosing the specific path to the external, and also under settings/Files... and everytime I look here or anywhere via Google or anything, the latest person talking about this is 2022 ! Thanks in advance :)

How to set up OS Sonoma Music App to access music on external drive ? 4 or 5 years ago my I Mac crashed and burned. I had an external hard drive that I backed up to. The problem being I did not back it up as frequently as I should have and lost important files I couldn’t get back. Now I have two external drives and keep all of my important files, pictures, and music on them and I keep everything backed up. I still have OS Mojave on my computer because I didn’t want to lose I Tunes. Now I want to move up to OS Sonoma and would like to set up the Music app just like I did with I Tunes so it will keep all of my music on the external drive. So my question is how can I set up the Music App in Sonoma to access my I Tunes file on my external drive ? Please let me know. Thanks Davis
