MagSafe problems with iPhone 14 Pro

Hi there,

I recently bought an iPhone 14 Pro, and a little later I bought a MagSafe wallet from Apple (second gen) and a Belkin MagSafe powerbank. I’ve been using them for about a week now and I have noticed that my MagSafe accessories are not that secure as I expected. I thought this was just how it is, but then I tried some of my friend’s MagSafe wallets and powerbanks and they seem to be way more secure on my iPhone. I am using no case on my iPhone.

Now since my friend’s MagSafe wallets feel way more secure on my iPhone (mainly on the bottom side where the vertical magnet is) logically I would say the problem is with my accessories and not my phone.

Has anyone else experienced this? And would it more likely be my phone or the accessories? I don’t really enjoy using the wallet and powerbank now since mainly the bottom side keeps sliding off and my wallet for example is on an angle on my phone.

What could I best do in this situation?

Hey there zaferaltan,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with MagSafe.

Apple has a 14 day return policy. You might consider making an appointment, having your device and these accessories checked by a certified technician, and then repair or replace as necessary. If it's still within the return period, they might just return it and get you a new one and you can check it with them then and there.

To make an appointment, choose hardware here: Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

You also may need to reach out to Belkin Support regarding your MagSafe power bank, but if you wish to continue here, we'd like to rule out some other possible causes, along with learning more about what's happening:

  1. As you mentioned being able to test your friend's MagSafe accessories and there's a big difference in how strong it attaches, have you been able to test your own MagSafe accessories with your friend's iPhone?
  2. You may have done this already, but we also recommend cleaning your iPhone(with more attention to the back) per the steps in this article: Cleaning your iPhone
  3. What was the last thing you remember doing with your iPhone right before this began to occur?
  4. Any cases or scratch film or screen protectors on your device that may be interfering with the connection?
