A proplem with making calls & SMS on iPad mini 6th cellular

Firstly I would to tell that i'm a new apple device & system user coming from android.

Currently I have an andriod samsung tablet with SIM card slot that i can makes calls & SMS but it get old.

When i bought an apple device ( 3 days ago ) i chose iPad mini 6th ( cellular ) and I thought ( obviously ) it can make calls & SMS messages because of SIM card like my old tablet.

But i was surprised it CAN'T !!! How is that ?!! Sure that is not inability from iPad develpers !!!

I'm not compatiple with small size devices like iphone and used my android tablet as " all in one " device for 4 years tell now , What can i do ?!!

Is there any thechincal solution to activate SIM card as calls & SMS on iPad ( on its own & without internet ) ? Or I just lost my money ( half of my monthly salary ) as the worset user experience i have ever , coming back to android world ?!

Do you have an iPhone - or just an iPad? If exchanging messages with Android or non-Apple devices, you’ll need to use SMS/MMS messaging.

An iPad, whether a Cellular model or not, is not capable of directly accessing Cellular Voice or SMS/MMS Messaging features. An iPad with either WiFi or Cellular connectivity alone can only access IP-data services. If you have added a DataSIM and Cellular plan to a WiFi+Cellular model of iPad, the number associated with the SIM card is only used to identify your account for billing purposes. This number is not used for making calls or sending messages.

An iPad is not, and can never be, a standalone substitute for an iPhone.  However, If paired with an iPhone, the capabilities of iPad significantly broaden to include access to Cellular Voice and Messaging services of the associated iPhone - relayed to the iPad over WiFi using Apple’s continuity features. For the most part, an iPad using Continuity is able to access Cellular calling features of the iPhone when both the iPad an iPhone are in close physical proximity and are connected to the same WiFi network - but this is not the end of the story…

If your both your Cellular Carrier and your calling plan support WiFi Calling, your iPad can make and receive calls independently of the iPhone - even when the iPhone is switched off, elsewhere, or using a different WiFi network. Not all carriers support full WiFi calling.

More information about Continuity and the relevant Cellular services can be found here:

SMS/MMS Messaging

WiFi Calling

When correctly configured, the iPad FaceTime App provides access to Cellular Voice Calling features - whilst Messages supports SMS/MMS messaging services.

So, in conclusion, if your own Cellular Carrier and tariff support WiFi Calling, it is possible to configure WiFi Calling service for your iPad. After WiFi Calling is enabled and configured, your iPad can continue to make and receive cellular calls independently of your iPhone whilst connected to a WiFi network.

I hope this information and clarification is helpful in understanding the capabilities of both your iPad - and if you have one, your iPhone.

Thank you for your reply , I'm just aksing if the SIM card is already exist in iPad cellular , Why not ?!!!

Some users like me can't compatible with small size smartphones and uses the bigger one as " all in one device " .

So, if this is a software issue , that's what i write here for in attempt to notify apple developers to take it in consideration and look at my experience to modify ipad sofware .

Or if it hardware issue so the device became useless ( for me ) and i just fell victim due to my ignorance of apple system since i come from android .
