Blurry photo or corrupted file message

Ipad Pro 11 with 16.5, when I plug Ipad into laptop using USB cord and open the ipad folder on laptop (ipad, internal storage,DCIM) and open a picture, it starts off as unsupported file or corrupted file message, then if I wait, the picture appears and it is blurry. If I view same photo on ipad only, it is perfect. If I transfer the same photo to the laptop it is perfect. This is recent- 1week. I have booted on/off, changed photo transfer from auto to keep originals , no change. I also changed USB cord. Any suggestions?

Hi jaycough,

Since every other way you're using brings the photo in as clear, and you've already tried a new cable, the laptop may be the issue. Here are a few other things you can try:

1. Use a different USB port

2. Check for debris in the port openings: How to clean your Apple products - Apple Support

Also, are you using a MacBook model? If so, does AirDrop give you the same results?

How to use AirDrop on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If not using a Mac, check with your software manufacturer to see if there is another way or app which you can try with.

Plus, is this issue just with one photo, or any which you try to view?

Thank you!

Hello jaycough,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you.

We will need to know what model laptop and OS you're using with your iPad Pro to view your photos. Have you installed any and all available software updates to that device?

You might find the information provided in Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC - Apple Support to be helpful. Especially the info below:

1. On your iOS or iPadOS device, open the Settings app.
2. Tap Camera, then tap Formats.
3. Tap Most Compatible. From now on, your camera will create photos and videos in JPEG and H.264 formats.

We hope this information is helpful.

Best regards.
