Excerpt from above Apple Support Document on Migrating from Old to New Computer
The steps in this article describe how to transfer content from one Mac to another Mac over Wi-Fi. It's also possible to transfer content from a Time Machine backup,

All good points to consider. FWIW, based upon personal experience, I have assisted with three recent migrations. One Laptop, and two Desktop Macs, without complication.
Two cent here
One Size does Not Fit All
If the new computer is going to be the Apple Silicon M1 / M2 Equipped Computer - would suggest Only Migrating the User Account and nothing more.
Some have had success.
Others have been left with a mess when Migrating everything.
1 - Apple Silicon with Ventura macOS 13 Only Support everything 64 bit and there is no workaround.
2 - Issues that may exist on the older computer will be migrated to the New Computer. This would badly pollute the new Original and Pristine installation of the new OS.
3 - Applications, extensions and Software Drivers may or may not even work on the new computer.
4 - IMHO - it would be best to only install new application etc Directly from the Developer or the Apple Apps Store.
5 - Due Diligence on New Applications and make sure they are Ventura / Monterey / Big Sur compatible and factor in the ARMs CPU of the Apple Silicon Computer
Thanks.
Like yourself, nor have I had issues on my personal machines ( 4 ) but and always the but.
I knew if or how serious of an issue existed before hand and the remedial actions required to fix this.
When I tried to transfer from my Time Machine the message came up unable to transfer as no Mac OS installed on back up.
luckily my old Mac is still working and I hadn’t deleted anything so not an issue, but can someone tell me what I did wrongly with Time Machine?
Thanks
Barry
I’m trying to go from a 2017 MacBook Air running Monterey to a 2017 MacBook Pro running ventura. I am using a zmuipng 14 in one adapter to connect them. The two machines aren’t discovering each other. Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Sadly, the Apple Support Community Forums have recently been over-run by AI / LMM / ChatBots.
AI / LLM is basically a Super Version of Predictive Text which is based upon a Data Set.
When that Data Set is based upon Older Data Points, the outcome of the response will be equally Out Dated and unreliable
AI is also the newest fform for Data Mining by Large Corporations.
Suggest being very careful about this.
Some suggestions can be incorrect, misinformed , incomplete, impossible to do, out right wrong and may supply outdated links that are no longer relevant to current conditions
A previous posting of mine, is no longer in proper context.
This seems to have occurred because some other posting that appeared in this Thread seems to have been removed ?
