drag drop onto folder alias

2014 MBP 15" Big Sur

I have some folder aliases on the desktop, and finder will not let me drag/drop files onto/into

those folders. Is there a work around so that I do not have to open the folder to move the file into it?

Thanks peeps

If the alias is not working as expect — delete the alias and create a new one from the source folder.
