iOS upgrade breaks card reading

After upgrade to iOS 16.5 camera connection kit/card reader no longer boots cards that used to read just fine. Says not enough power…

Presumably you are using an Apple USB3 Camara Adapter with your iPad - and to this is connected a card reader via USB. As you may be aware, many USB peripherals require more more power than the iPad’s Lightning port can supply - and for this reason you must also connect your iPad’s Power Adapter to the Lightning power connector of the Camera Adapter.


Subsequent to the iOS/iPadOS 16.5 update, there is an issue with charging the iPad from USB Type-A Power Adapters, via the USB3 Camera Adapter - regardless of the Power Adapter’s power output.


The current workaround is to use an Apple USB-C Power Adapter with a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.
