Problems with ogg files?

Hello. I’m having problems with ogg files when trying to import in Audacity and/or WaveLab Cast on my MacBook (16” 2021; 13.3.1). Audacity just crashes when trying to import ogg files (I recall in the past, I didn't have that problem). When I open WaveLab Cast, I get a message window stating: “VST 2 plug-ins are not supported in Apple Native Mode. If you want to use VST 2 plug-ins, start WaveLab Cast in Rosetta 2 mode”. Not sure what that means. If I try to open an ogg file in WaveLab Cast, a window opens stating “The file cannot be opened. The format is unknown or WaveLab Cast could not find a suitable decoder on your system”.

Please can someone advise me how to fix this problem?

Yes, Macbook 2021 16"

Audacity is showing as "universal".

WaveLab Cast is also showing as "universal".

But I don't understand exactly what this means in terms of trying to get software to open ogg files.

Thank you. I downloaded one of those ogg files and it opened in Audacity without any problem.

but if I try one from some from Whatsapp messages (e.g. discussions with a language teacher that I want to play on my Macbook and file for reference), the files won't open in Audacity or WaveLab Cast.

It's really annoying.

Just to add, I can also open some .ogg files in the Brave & Chrome browsers, not in Safari however.

FWIW, .ogg audio file opened in Audacity 3.3.3.0 on an M1 MBA…

Audacity updated to 3.3.3. Same problem – Audacity crashes when I try to import an ogg file. :-(
