I bought a used AirTag that is paired with another Apple ID
I bought a used air tag on Amazon and it is connected to another Apple ID. How do I disconnect it so I can pair it to my iPhone?

Take the battery out of the AirTag. Put the battery back in the AirTag and press on it until it makes a sound. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until you have taken the battery out and put it back in a total of 5 times. The fifth time the AirTag should make a sound that is different than the previous four times. That is how you will know it has been successfully reset. Warning! Old owner still will have access to see where is the AirTag.
You can see help how to open the AirTag here: https://macreports.com/how-to-reset-apple-airtag-to-transfer-to-new-owner/#:~:text=Reset%20the%20AirTag,-If%20the%20previous&text=Take%20the%20battery%20out%20of,than%20the%20previous%20four%20times.
This is not a solution.
That only works if it's already been removed from the previous owner's Apple ID. If it has not been removed, it will still be tied to the previous owner and will not be able to be paired to another Apple ID. This is all explained in the article you linked to.
The previous owner must have removed it from their Apple ID. Only they can do this.

You cannot. The previous owner must disconnect it themselves from their Apple ID.
