Moving Folders complete with its files/folders

How can I move a large folder to another place on my Mac. This large folder has many sub-folders and individual files and is currently in the wrong sub-folder.

I am having difficulties moving files into folders on my external LaCie External Hard drive. I used to be able to do this with no problem. I am on a Mac Mini running Monterey 12.6.7. I am directly downloading a lot of files to a folder on my external hard drive. There are a lot of them and now I am trying to organize them by moving them into separate folders within the master folder. There used to be no problem doing this. But now when I click on the destination folder that I want it to go to (and it is highlighted), then when I start dragging the file toward the folder, the highlight goes gray and the home folder is highlighted. Of course, this means that the file goes nowhere! Please help and thank you in advance.

Move document files. How can i copy and paste multiple files from my Mac HD documents folder to an external drive When I open the Manage option on the Mac HD the window it only allows me to delete files in this folder but I want to move them to store in an external drive.
