Software update says network issue so it will not update.

This is with the purpose of recognizing an iPhone 8.

I have rebooted several times as well as checked my network, hotspot off on the phone, and started in safe mod. The problem still persists. What do I do?

It is an older MacBook Pro (October 2011) with the highest OS being High Sierra. That could be the problem but wanted to throw some feelers out there and see if there was a potential solution other than a new computer.

If you refer to -> Related Article: If your Mac says that a software update is required to connect to iPhone or iPad

You may need to update the software on your Mac in order for it to recognise your iOS device

Click Install to download and install the software so your Mac can update or sync your iOS device.

It is just a small patch for macOS.

You won't notice that update by the way, it only lasted 5 minutes or so.

The Mac remains 10.13.6 and the iPhone remains iOS you running on the iPhone 8.
