Turn off double factor authentication

You can’t.

2FA is required on all new Apple accounts.

So rather than “fight it” you should instead learn how it works. (Preferably before you NEED it badly)

Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

Pro Tip: Pay close attention to selecting and setting-up your Trusted Numbers.

And practice using them … the time to learn is NOT after you’ve lost your phone.

You can't unless you signed up for Two Factor less than 2 weeks ago and you have never used it.

Otherwise, it's too late.
