Login problems after dropping the phone on the floor

A while ago I dropped my iphone 13 (ios 16.5) on the floor and cracked the backside of it. Everything (almost) works, but I recently discovered that from that happening, some apps refuses to let me login again. Different forms of "unable to authenticate" and "Something went wrong" have started to pop up, starting from around the time I dropped the phone. Most apps still works, but a few doesn't, even if they start, the login is refused. Apps have been unistalled and reinstalled, but the problem persists.

How is the phone constructed? Are apps stored on different areas of the phone causing problems for a specific app when a damage has happened to one corner of the phone. At the same time, other apps works fine? Different memory alocations or something like that? Anyone who knows. I'm not interested in answers like "can't solve this unless you leave it to a repair shop" since I'll be buying a new phone instead. Not interested in repairs. I'm asking to learn more about how phones like this are constructed.

Kindly

Magnus

Hey there Tinge1tange1,

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

We see that you've been having some trouble logging in to certain apps after your iPhone sustained some physical damage. While we see what you mean with the issue only occurring after the iPhone was dropped, however we don't believe that the two events are likely to be connected. When it comes to troubleshooting issues on an iPhone, we can generally separate things into two potential categories; software or hardware. Something like physical damage or your iPhone being dropped would be a physical, hardware-based issue. However, things like login issues with apps would usually be related to a software or operating system issue and would usually be unaffected by physical damage on the device.

The best course of action here would be to focus on each app that is affected and see if you can reset your login information for that particular app. We would recommend resetting your password outside of the app and then testing the issue afterward to see if that may have resolved the login issue.

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!

Hi Nathan!

thank you for the response. I’ve tried login in to the affected apps on PC, Android and other iOS units. All is working fine there. I can login without any problem. It is only, apparently, the dropped iPhone where it doesn’t work. Affected apps have been erased and reinstalled without success as for login in. Also, I’ve noticed that if I apply a small pressure to a spot around the crack, I can activate the little minus symbol for erasing apps.

Does this give any hint to what it can be. To me it seems like there is a hardware failure that doesn’t effect all functions. What do you think?

kindly

Magnus
