Somebody redeem my stolen Apple card, what can I do?

My autistic son got a messenger message that "John William " has $50000 gift waiting for my son. My son needs to send a processing fee so they can send him this money. My son stole $400 from my daughter and bought $200 and $10 giftcard and sent to this person. The giftcard was redeemed last month. I talked to my son that this was a scam, but my son did not beleive me. My son thold me that he only borrowed the money and he will pay back when he received $50000. MY son used an SE iphone. He doesn't has bank or apple card. If we has it, he would use all money.

My son is 21 now, and he doesn't know that was scam. What should I do now?

RE: "I would like the police explains that stealing money from the family is a crime and also the deal he got is a scam … I am scared that my son still try to steal cash or our card to buy apple gift cards at the store and will send him the code for redeem."

Having scammed him once, these criminals may well try to scam him again. Or sell contact information to other would-be scammers who would like a list of easy marks.

The best defense against this is education: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Hopefully you can find someone at the police department (or maybe at his school) who can explain this to him in an understandable but not too frightening way.

TheLittles – What you suggest might be a good idea, but it sounds like what the original poster was trying to say was that his autistic son sent Apple Gift Cards (or Gift Card codes) to the scammer. Not that his autistic son sent the number of an Apple Card (credit card).

From the post: "He doesn't has bank or apple card. If we has it, he would use all money."

If the poster's son sent gift cards (or gift card codes) – especially for gift cards purchased with cash – all of the money stolen by the scammer may be long gone. Apple's terms and conditions for Apple and iTunes gift cards say that Apple is not responsible for lost or stolen cards (although that would be subject to applicable law).

Thanks all of you. My son used my old SE phone, and he has his own apple account. He is autistic: for some field he is smart but lack the social life. I did report to police, not because for the money, but I would like the police explains that stealing money from the family is a crime and also the deal he got is a scam. I checked his facebook account, and even that Facebook account was not friend to my son. That account only used messenger to talk and text to my son. Today I still saw the messenger is green, mean active. I am scared that my son still try to steal cash or our card to buy apple gift cards at the store and will send him the code for redeem. I am so stressful since I cannot predict what my son will do. He will graduate his special education High School this June!
