iOS shortcut turn on/off mobile data for personal/ business sim card

I already found the same question here from 2022. Not solved until today.

Can’t believe that Apple hasn’t added this option yet. It’s not a difficult one.

So here is already the option to change the mobile data mode for Business and Personal sim card:

We only need the option here to turn on/ off Business and Personal.

Thats it :)

As simple as that.

I still have an open ticket and I will keep pushing because this would change the use of dual sim BIG TIME.

The big picture here is to (after we have the option above) create an automation which switches off/ on Personal/ Business automatically, when the focus work/ personal changes.

So when I am home, Business is off.

When I am at work, Business is on.

Its definitely possible to make it happen, lets do it! :)

Thank you in advance!! 🙏

This is quite simple and seems to have been solved by Apple in the last update, if it didn’t exist before.

this solution toggles a Mobile plan. Set one action to turn off at the end of the working day. Have a second running to return it on the next morning a.

In Personal Automation, set an action to be triggered at your desired time. This can be set for daily or if you only want to turn your mobile plan on for weekdays, select Weekly and then toggle the days you want. Then hit Next, select ‘new blank automation’, search for ‘Toggle’ and select ‘Toggle mobile plan. Select ‘on’ or ‘Off’ depending on the action you want for this automation, and select the relevant SIM card/plan from the next option. Hit Done and it’s saved. Your mobile plan will be turned on/off as selected.

You will need a second similar automation to turn the mobile plan back on the next morning.

I may have misunderstood what you are trying to do, but I have two shortcuts setup that help me switch the primary mobile data between my work and personal SIMs. One of which is in the image below (the other just does the same for the other SIM).

Note in the case below 3HK is already on and so is CSL…but you have to still turn on CSL first for this to work otherwise you get an error.

Basically there doesn’t appear to be any automation logic that lets you directly set primary/secondary so you have to force that using this logic:

  • make sure CSL is on (but at this point it will still be the secondary line, again weird but if you don’t do this you get an error)
  • turn off 3HK (this step makes CSL automatically become the primary)
  • turn on 3HK (this step turns on 3HK but only as the secondary)
