Is MainStage the same as MainStage 3?

I want to buy MainStage 3 but for some reason I only see MainStage. Does anyone know if I get MainStage will it automatically update to MainStage 3?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.4

Yes, it's the same. In the App Store entry for MainStage, you will see under "Version History" (based on the version of macOS you're running i.e. 13.4) that the current MainStage version number listed is 3.6.3 i.e. MainStage 3.
