On my Mac book, why does my wallpaper only rotate through a few photos instead of the whole album file like it used to.
It does it for all my photo albums, not just one. Rebooting the computer doesn't help.
It's not a question of orientation. All 4 or 5 photos are oriented properly.

Sonoma briefly made this worse, but I resolved it. What I like about Sonoma is that it now shows my photos the way I cropped them - ¡Yay! But it only cycled through the same three photos - even though I have 200+ photos in the file. This is how I fixed it. Go to Apple / System Settings / Wallpaper, and scroll down to the folder of photos that you are going to use, and then click "show all." Click on each individual photo in the folder - for me, this was 200+ photos - and you'll notice them each appear filling your desktop. Then, click on the first (composite) image in the folder with the circular "shuffle" arrows. Now, go to the top of the Wallpaper window and decide on your preferred frequency of suffling and if you want it to be random. I think what this process did was "initialize" each photo into the lineup. That's it! Good luck!

Sonoma Wallpaper problem. I still can't use my photos for Desktop wallpaper using my albums. I try and click an album but still shows a the Mac default winery picture....I have tried all suggestions to remedy this and no changes even after the new update. Logging out , doing SMC, disk utility, First Aid etc no changes.
I have a $4,000 Mac and still can't show my all album photos as a wallpaper! My older MBP with Monterey does work. Any ideas or do we have to wait for Apple to rectify this annoying situation?
is there an update on this? i mean it is obviously broken is any body working on it?

Agreed all around. 13.4.1.c for me. Doesn't sound like upgrading fixes anything and actually makes it worse. @apple? Anyone? Bueller?
This bug has been going on for years now. My new 2023 Macbook Pro, using Ventura 13.5.2, has the same problem.
It can't be that hard to fix Apple, just do it!
out of 13,000 photos see only about 5 rotate. It's so frustrating, it's a brand-new iMac and its soooo lame!

I just updated my Macbook Air to Sonoma 14.0, but my wallpaper doesn't show the whole album; it shuffles through just 2 photos that I previously chose for my main screen and the external monitor.
As of Sonoma 14.1, still no fix! Soooooooo frustrating!
I agree with you. I wonder if this is memory problem. Apple is know not to be generous with RAM. Is there a 3rd party app. that would work I wonder?
