iCloud Drive Files Not Fully Syncing on Mac

I recently signed out of my Apple ID on my Mac to troubleshoot a different issue and noticed that not all of my files in iCloud Drive are syncing. When I check iCloud Drive on my iPhone and on the web version, I see four folders. However, only three folders appear on my Mac. This issue persists even after I tried downloading the entire folder, deleting the download, and downloading it again. The missing folder is not hidden as I can see it in the web version and on my iPhone.

As a workaround, I could sign out and back into my Apple ID, but I'm hoping for a simpler solution. I want to be able to see my documents on my Mac without worry that they might be irretrievably lost. Restarting my Mac did not resolve the issue. There's plenty of storage on my Mac (almost 100GB of free space) and the size of the missing folder is only 2.5MB. My internet connection is stable, evidenced by my ability to download, delete, and re-download all my folders.

Interestingly, when I duplicated the missing folder using my iPhone, the duplicate immediately appeared on my Mac, but the original folder is still missing.

System Information:

MacBook Air Retina, 13-inch, 2020

MacOS 13.4 (22F66)

Stable Internet Connection

Steps to Reproduce:

Sign out of Apple ID on Mac.

View iCloud Drive folders on Mac, iPhone, and web version.

Notice that one folder visible on iPhone and web version does not appear on Mac.

Attempt to download missing folder, delete download, and re-download on Mac.

Expected Result:

All iCloud Drive folders should sync across all devices.

Actual Result:

One folder from iCloud Drive is not syncing to Mac. All other folders are syncing as expected.

Workaround:

Duplicating the missing folder from iPhone makes it visible on Mac. The original folder, however, remains unseen.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.4

Hi vladkas,

You've done a great job troubleshooting, and since the issue is still happening, we'd advise to contact Apple Support. They can take a closer look at what's happening.

One additional test, which you can include with what you advise Apple Support, add something new to iCloud Drive on the Mac, and see if it syncs with your iPhone and iCloud website. Make sure your Mac is connected to the network when testing.

Take care!
