Unable to respond/reply to a group text - solution

Having the same issue. Would like to see a fix.

Thank you, m3fella. I just had the same issue with one group text on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Tried what you tried initially. Then, to your Step 2: turned off iMessage and shut the iPhone down for about 5 minutes. Restarted it and went to Settings, Message and turned iMessage on again. It worked. For how long, well, we’ll see. Sounds like a glitch in the Apple iMessage/text system that Apple should fix.

I'm having this issue too. At first, I saw me listed twice in my group text (one with my phone number and one with my Apple ID). I deleted the one with my Apple ID (not sure if this caused the problem). I can text new messages to this group, but cannot "reply" to an older message or tag it with an emoji. And it happens on both my iPhone AND my iMac Pro. And I felt like it started doing this after an update (but maybe coincidental). Other text messages and groups are fine; they work normally. I've attached a screenshot of what happens when I hold down on a text message that normally gives me a tag

My husband fixed it by doing a hard restart

Hard restart did not work on my iPad 10.

Do I have to turn iMessage off and on each time as mine want stay on this particular family group. Thanks.

That is the only way I can get it to work. This needs to be fixed. It is obviously a glitch.

I have to make sure I go back and turn iMessage back on or I miss text messages.
